Everything you need to know about Whale Tail Drop T Locks

24 August 2021 Everything you need to know about Whale Tail Drop T Locks

Whale Tail Drop T Locks (named after the shape of the handle) are both key lockable and padlockable for added security. This lock is chosen mostly for its differing shape and added security to the standard Drop T Lock. A popular option for caravans, camper trailers, utility vehicles, large toolboxes, 4WD canopies and undertray drawers. The sleek look and additional security these locks offer, add a professional finish to your vehicle.

Featuring:

  • Key Lockable
  • Extra Padlockable (Padlock Not Included)
  • Mounting Holes
  • Sits Proud When Fitted
  • Trade Quality
  • Water-Resistant
  • Stainless Steel Dish
  • Optional Use With Rods for 3 Way Locking (1084.57)

This lock is popular when a job requires extra security or a different look to your standard stainless Drop T Lock. It's extremely strong and weatherproof, whilst being easy to use and simple to install, and can be fitted with rods for additional security of 3 Way Locking on wide doors, as well as matched with a padlock for extra security. This is a sealed handle has no visible screws on the outside and adds a sleek look to your vehicle.

A nice feature of this handle is that it’s key lockable and the key cylinder is completely covered and hidden by the Whale Tail lock handle when it’s folded down in the closed position. This helps to keep dust and dirt out of the locking mechanism and keep it hidden from thieves.

Our Whale Tail locks are tough and heavy duty Drop T Locks that can stand up to the rigours of the road.

How to install your Whale Tail Drop T Lock

Installation of the Whale Tail Drop T Lock is easy. First of all, if you haven't already got your hole cut, use our cutout template on the product page or below. Then, you need to pull out the handle part of the lock then insert the lock into the door or drawer front. Place the backing plate on the rear of the door or drawer, insert the screws and tighten them. If you’re using rods as well, install these by removing the nuts on the back studs, placing the rods over these points, and reattaching the nuts. You might need to adjust the rolling cam of the lock to ensure a tight weather seal using an Allen key.
